Fifth Partners' Meeting

The fifth partners' meeting convened in Seville, Spain, on June 5, 2024. Key discussions included the final assessment of the three project results, ensuring they meet the desired objectives. The team also presented and reviewed the organized or upcoming multiplier events designed to disseminate the project's findings and impact. Additionally, they established a clear procedure for gathering feedback from the target groups, ensuring their input is systematically collected and integrated into the project's outcomes. This meeting marked a crucial step in refining the project's impact and preparing for its broader dissemination.

ISCTE (University Institute of Lisbon) organizes on 8 May 2024 in Coimbra the multiplier event of the project. The event will be in Portuguese and will allow for virtual participation through a Zoom Room. The event is entitled "Empowering Students with Intellectual Disabilities in Higher Education".

Multilanguge Digital Handbook

The Digital Handbook is now available in all partners' languages and in the Easy Reading version.

It is relevant for:

  • undergraduate students with and without disabilities because it offers strategies to make the university friendlier in several areas such as curricula, university coexistence, gender equality and support networks, international mobility, orientation and labour inclusion.
  • teachers because it offers tools to broaden the scientific view of disability in science, technology and innovation, and because it offers relevant information to make teaching accessible to this population group.
  • administration and services staff as a tool to improve accessibility in the administrative management of the campus and to offer friendly environments in the context of university services.

Education Resource- International Perspectives of Disability video

Under the website of The International Association Of Schools Of Social Work is available a video from social work day prepared by various student/intern at the UN NY and participated in the Global Student Conference held on April 2, 2023. The video is about the different perspectives of disability around the world. The purpose of the video was to serve as an educational tool to those unfamiliar with disability but also a way to hear the changes people with disabilities from different countries want.

Second Partners Meeting

The second meeting of the IHES project took place on 5-6 October 2022 in Dublin (IE).

All partners have been involved in the:

  • Presentation of the results of Focus Groups and 1st round of Delphi Panel
  • Discussion about the creation of contents of PR1, the Online Training Program
  • Presentation and discussion of the templates for the second Project Result, the Digital Handbook

Focus Groups organized at UPO

The focus groups foreseen in the first phase of the IHES-UPO project of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Pablo de Olavide University UPO have been held. 
 
Participating in the development of the focus groups are: Beatriz Macías, undergraduate students; Antonia Corona, PDI; María Rosa Herrera, PAS; and Antonio Iáñez, students with intellectual disabilities.

Various rounds of Focus groups have been held in Portugal (by ISCTE) and Italy (by UniFi).

All o them have been realized following the guidelines provided by the University Pablo de Olavide with the different target groups of the project: Lecturers, Students, and Administrative staff.

The kick-off meeting of the IHES project took place online as a consequence of the COVID-19. All partners participated in the meeting and the main topics discussed were:

- Presentation of the project activities, objectives and results
- Presentation of the templates and calendar of activities for the first project result
- Analysis of the Project Assessment by the Spanish National Agency

The “Inclusive Higher Education System for Students with Intellectual Disabilities” project is funded, by the European Commission through the Spanish National Agency for the Erasmus+ Programme to place people with intellectual disabilities in universities, as students, as future users of professionals trained in universities and as citizens who count on universities as generators of knowledge focused on improving their lives in more egalitarian and fair societies.
